iServi News | 30 November 2018 | Term 4, Week 8
The annual Student Leadership Camp for our senior leaders was held earlier this week at Ern Halliday Recreation Centre. The outstanding input from our student leaders over the years will assuredly continue next year with an amazing group of students putting their hand up to lead in 2019.
The 2019 Year 12 Student Leadership team engaged fully in the many and varied camp activities and are to be commended on their efforts. They combined well as a team and collectively developed some very exciting initiatives for next year. Importantly the students’ ideas were fully focused on the ongoing growth and development of our Servite community which speaks volumes for their capacity to positively shape the future Servite Story.
The students explored what is means to be an effective leader over the course of the camp. They highlighted these attributes through the collegial and inclusive way that they supported and worked with one another. We look forward to the terrific impact that they will have as leaders on our community next year.
A very special thanks to Mr John Power and Ms Alice Potter for organising this excellent camp, along with the mentor teachers who worked with the student leaders.
College Awards Night
We are looking forward to our Annual College Awards Night celebration on Monday next week commencing at 7.00pm at the Perth Concert Hall. We look forward to the company of families, friends and students of Servite as we formally conclude our 60th Anniversary celebrations. The event of course also importantly allows us to celebrate outstanding student performance and provide an insight into the exciting future plans for the College.
The 60th year celebrations have allowed us to pause and reflect on the amazing contribution that so many people have made to the Servite community across the last six decades. The testament to their efforts stands before us today as a thriving coeducational Catholic College home to well in excess of 1000 students.
Former Servite College Principal, the late Mr Grenville Murray, wrote in the publication “Of Dreams and Realities” released to celebrate the College’s Silver Jubilee, that the Servites have met the challenges of the times and have adapted to the needs of the present rather than remain rooted in the past”. Nothing has changed in the intervening 35 years as we continue to grow out school into a place that provides the best possible learning opportunities for our students in today’s dynamic world.
We are very excited at the future plans for the College which will be outlined at Awards Night on Monday. These plans will support the ongoing growth of the school and ensure that we are providing engaging and authentic 21st Century learning opportunity for students that will set them up for future success.

Servite College Uniform
As mentioned in last week’s iServi, we are very excited at the formal release of our new Sport and Priory uniforms. They will add to the growth of a wardrobe of uniform items that will facilitate the ongoing exploration of meaningful wellness and health initiatives to support the development of our students as whole persons. The uniforms will instill a sense of energy and confidence in students to involve themselves in the myriad of activities at the College to support them becoming ‘all that they were created to be’.
Further to last week’s communication, full details of this phase of the uniform refresh are available HERE.
