On Friday 30 November the Servite College Contemporary Band, as well as multiple duo and solo performers, performed for Years 7 – 9 during lunch. There were plenty of pieces that showcased the students’ musical talent. Performances included a vocal solo by Dalinda Evangelista (SC5), accompanied by Michael Xigas on guitar (OLS3). Year 7 Jesse Lazaroo (OLS6) also performed a vocal solo, playing the song ‘River’ by African American soul artist Leon Bridges.
After receiving recent accolades for his piece at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival, Year 11 student Jake Pullella entertained crowds with his instrumental guitar solo, improvising over JJ Cale’s ‘They call me the Breeze’. To finish off the afternoon the Servite Contemporary Band wowed crowds with their rendition of ‘When You Were Young’ by The Killers. Predominantly consisting of Year 7 students at the College, the band only formed earlier in the year and has come forward leaps and bounds! A vast array of students enjoyed the performances on offer during the Lunch.
