iServi News | 15 March 2019 | Term 1, Week 6
On Tuesday 12 March our ACC Swimming team attended a camp at Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre, aiming to build team culture and enhance teamwork skills. The day focused on students’ techniques, start dives, finishes and team bonding activities. Now in its third year of program delivery, the 2019 camp was a huge success and a strong team atmosphere is developing within our student cohort.
The day started off with Mr Wayne Wilkes, Head of Community – St Anthony, talking to the team about his experiences as an elite triathlete. Mr Wilkes discussed what it took to properly prepare for his events and how his experiences as a high performing athlete can assist our students as they prepare for their upcoming swimming events. After Mr Wilkes’ captivating speech, we were all excited about diving into the pool.
This year students were recognised for their efforts and commitment with a new Servite College ACC shirt which will accompany their College Sports uniform as part of the official uniform for the ACC Interschool Swimming Carnival. Students are able to wear their shirts over the next two Wednesdays instead of their Priory shirts.
We are very proud of the efforts of the team with their training at the Servite College Aquatic Centre and look forward to their representation at the upcoming carnival on Friday 22 March.
A big thank you to Head Coaches Ms Potter and Ms Plant and to Mr Wilkes for their instrumental roles in preparing our students through the morning training sessions and the swim camp.
Interpriory Swimming Carnival – Individual Champions
At the swim camp we were able to present the individual champions for the Interpriory Swimming Carnival held earlier this term. These students were both recognised at the camp in front of the team as well as being presented to the whole school at the assembly held on Wednesday:
