Dear Parents and Guardians

Welcome to Week 10

CEWA Collaborative Project

On Monday this week, the College welcomed in excess of sixty teachers from across eight Catholic schools into the College. Visiting teachers were part of a Collaborative Learning project organised through Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA). The event enabled teachers to collaborate and share ideas around improved literacy, numeracy and general educational standards across the Catholic sector.

In upholding our Servite value of hospitality, we were very pleased to open our school to the visitors who enjoyed exploring our new learning spaces and furniture. We were also proud of the enthusiasm our students displayed in engaging with our guests, as they participated in rich conversations with our visitors about their learning experiences.

Youth Ministry Retreat

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same spirit gives them. There are different ways of serving, but the same Lord is served (Cor 14:4).

Youth Ministry within the College is a special opportunity for students to share and grow in faith. On Wednesday, 17 students gathered at the Servite Priory to discover more about ways to serve at the College as Youth Ministers. Following a prayer service and reflection, Sr Chitra called on us to explore our gifts and how we can share our talents with the community. Throughout the day students supported each other with faith challenges and looked at how to develop their abilities as Disciples in our school. Two of our current Year 12 Eucharistic Ministers, Paula and Anais, shared their experiences with the new team and encouraged our emerging Youth Ministers on their journeys. After lunch in the beautiful sun, students participated in specialist training sessions, gaining skills and knowledge to be Lectors, Altar Servers and Eucharistic Ministers. Our new Youth Ministers are ready to commence their leadership roles at the College, serving at our Masses and liturgies, and we look forward to the contributions they will make to our community.

ACC Athletics Carnival

On Friday 16 September Servite College competed in the "C" Division ACC Athletics Carnival held at the WA Athletics Stadium. We sent one of our largest teams which was evident by the support and cheering coming from the grandstand while the athletes were competing.

Our goal for the day was to finish in the top four and win at least one shield. Unfortunately, we did not achieve this goal; however, the Junior Boys (Year 7-9) finished second and the Senior Boys (Year 10-12) finished fourth in their respective categories and the Overall Boys finished fourth. The students performed admirably and the College finished sixth.
