Welcome to week 5

College Assembly

Our whole school College assemblies are important times when we gather together as a community to celebrate and share the many activities and events happening in our vibrant school.

On Thursday this week we had the great privilege of enjoying a new assembly format which introduced a variety of exciting initiatives. We need to recognise Mrs Melbourne and the Our Lady of Sorrows students, along with Mrs Coutts and our ICT team for their innovation and planning.

Wheelchair Sports WA

On Thursday 26 May the Year 12 Health Studies students were visited by a speaker from Wheelchair Sports WA, an organisation whose purpose is to provide assistance to individuals and families of individuals with a physical disability, giving them a supportive and welcoming environment where they can participate in a wide array of modified sports without judgement or seclusion.

"Wheelchair Sports WA is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Western Australians living with a physical disability via engagement in lifestyle, recreational and sporting activities"

The students have been investigating what factors determine an individual's health. We have been discussing self-management and coping skills, including the idea of resilience, health promotion and how we can promote healthy behaviours and choices in the school and wider community.

Saint Mary Feast Day

Many thanks to the staff and students of Saint Mary Priory for making our Feast Day such enjoyable one. The day started with a beautiful Mass to mark the feast day of Our Lady Help of Christians, patroness of Australia. It was also a great opportunity for us to live out all three of our Servite charisms, Marian Identity, Service and Community, which we demonstrated by asking families to donate a can of soup that we could then pass on to those in need. I am thrilled to say that we collected approximately 140 cans of soup. Thank you for your support.

Mass was followed by a magnificent staff morning tea that was catered by the wonderful St Mary staff. After listening to our prayers, the sun shone on the whole Priory as we shared a barbeque lunch with each other. A special thank you to our two parent volunteers Mr Anthony Monterosso and Mr Peter Sigle, who took time out of their busy days to prepare the sausage sizzle for all of us. We couldn't have done it without you both.
