On Wednesday 5 April our Year 10 students travelled to RAC Arena to attend the RAC Bstreetsmart Road Safety Event. The event was a huge success, with over 8,000 students receiving important messages about the dangers of road trauma.
The event kicked off with a powerful crash scene re-enactment, which was attended by real emergency services personnel. The students were then given the opportunity to ask questions of the emergency services personnel and learn more about the real-world consequences of road trauma.
The students also heard from guest speakers who had been directly impacted by road trauma. These speakers shared their personal stories of loss and grief, which help drive home the message of road safety.
The students were engaged and attentive throughout the event, and it was clear that they were learning a lot. Many students commented on how powerful the event was and how it had made them think about the dangers of road trauma.
