iServi News | 7 June 2019 | Term 2, Week 6
Congratulations to our Year 11 and 12 students who have completed the past two weeks in the workplace and represented themselves, their families and the College with pride.
Students have challenged themselves to step out of their comfort zones and sample a range of workplaces to gain a better idea of their options for future study and training pathways.
Workplace Learning Program feedback from students, parents and Host Employers has been very positive, keep reading below for some great insights…

Feedback from students
“For Workplace Learning I am at KalmPets Doggy Daycare and Behaviour Centre. This placement involves me helping calm down and keep the dogs entertained, cleaning and maintaining the daycare centre and grooming the dogs. I see myself going into this industry when I leave school as I love animals, especially pets. Working at KalmPets has helped me learn some of the key skills needed to work with animals and has enabled me to fully understand what type of person you need to be to work with dogs. The staff have welcomed me and encouraged me to try out different tasks each week. I really have enjoyed going to KalmPets and am so looking forward to entering this industry when I leave school. – Teah Stanford (OLS7)
“My placement is at Starbright Early Learning in Osborne Park. So far I have absolutely loved being with the children and being able to interact with the amazing staff members. My favourite part has been exploring the children’s imagination and seeing smiles on their faces every day. I know that I definitely want to work with children and Child Care is now a strong option for my future. Starbright has been so warm and welcoming and I have enjoyed every aspect of working in the child care industry”. – Brooke Kuriata (OLS1)
Feedback from Parents
“Chris is loving working with Dan and enjoying the work he’s doing, he said he would rather wake up at 4.30am and go to this job than going to school. Chris has asked if he could do more work experience with him during the July school holidays”. – Genny Conduit
“Just wanted to say how wonderful the first week has been for Olivia. She has been sharing her experience which has made for great conversation and seems to be handling the tasks very well. This program truly allows their full potential to shine through! We’re looking forward to next week and are enthusiastically talking about her second Workplace Learning Program in November”. – Tania Cleverly
Feedback from a Host Employer
“I felt Nadia brought a warm presence to the classroom, each morning greeting us with the upmost respect and assisting in the preparation for the day. By day two, it was evident that Nadia was a natural in the classroom. She made every effort to get to know the students and ‘ how they learn’. It was simply amazing to see Nadia demonstrate this standard of work at such a young age”. – Ms Daniela D’Agnone, Embleton Primary School
