Our proudly Catholic school was established by a group of men, who came not to be served, but to serve (Mark 10:45).
Inspired by the Seven Holy Founders, our Servite Friars share with us the rich traditions and charisms that we have nurtured in the everyday culture of our College for more than 60 years. Read more about one of the school’s founding members, Fr Liam Mackle OSM, here.
One of the reasons we know many families choose to send their daughters and sons to Servite is that the values we espouse align with their values at home. Each year we dedicate our efforts to exploring and growing our Servite values and helping our community to know how these values support us throughout our lives as people who can make a positive contribution to our society. This year we strive to help our community come to a deeper awareness of our value of Respect.
When we use our values to make decisions, we make a deliberate choice to focus on what is important to us. When values are shared, they build internal cohesion for our community and we can all thrive together. Respect is the most fundamental thing that must be felt if people are to associate with each other as human beings. It must be shown irrespective of someone’s talents, accomplishments or our relationship with them.
In understanding the meaning of respect, we acknowledge that our love of God calls us to demonstrate the same kind of love for others, for our work, of learning, and a love for our College so that we take pride in all that we achieve together.
At Servite, we challenge each other to see the face of Christ in every member of the school, to look beyond and embrace our differences. For us, respect is about treating everyone with dignity and love, knowing we are made in the image of God.
As members of the Servite community, we are all united around a common set of life-giving values that are fundamental to the lived expression of our faith. Together the staff at the College give the best of ourselves to provide a positive learning environment for all members of the community.
