Learning Continuity: Remote Learning Update
Further to the many communications sent to families this week, can I again thank our community for being so supportive of the measures that we have introduced to ensure the continuation of student learning and pastoral care amidst the current COVID-19 situation.
I would also like to again recognise the dedication of our amazing College staff in being of such great service to our students and families.
As you are aware, the College’s Vision for Learning promotes a personalised approach which supports student learning anywhere, anytime. It upholds the concept of Learning Continuity which supports student engagement in remote learning through the design and delivery of rich and meaningful curriculum.
In striving to provide the best virtual and physical environment for our students we promote a blended learning model which supports students in managing their own learning. This learning ‘anywhere, anytime’ approach has driven the development of technology systems that help students to learn at point of need and which support learning both in and outside of the formal classroom setting. It also promotes a growth in metacognition amongst students where they self-regulate and utilise their personal strengths to individualise and enhance their own learning.
Our contemporary view of learning has allowed us to quickly adapt to current circumstances to support continued student learning. We have long held the philosophy that learning happens ‘anywhere anytime’ and so we look forward to continuing to develop rich student learning opportunities using the technologies available to us.
As leaders of learning, our College continues to explore and develop new and innovative ways to achieve quality student learning outcomes. We look forward to utilising our full suite of technology systems at the school to remain connected to student and families to continue to offer enriching and regarding learning experiences.
We know that we are living through an unprecedented time in our history and that the social and economic impact of the COVID-19 virus has been significant. Some parents in our school have lost their jobs and many families are facing significant financial stress. I strongly encourage impacted families to contact the College to initiate financial support arrangements. Please rest assured that any arrangements made between parents and the school will remain confidential.
We continue to remain agile and responsive in the current climate and will regularly communicate updates to families. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with you to support the ongoing growth and care of our students in these dynamic times.
