Archbishop’s Forum for Secondary Schools 2018
The Archbishop’s annual Forum and LifeLink Appeal launch is a special opportunity for students across Catholic Education to gather with our Bishops to discuss local issues and ways young people can work together to support people in need within our community. Shelby Hardstaff (Year 8 SE3), Cecilia George (Year 9 SC1), Anika Desai (Year 9 SM2), Alexandria Petroff (Year 10 SC3), Kelly Chapman (Year 11 OLS3) and Andrea Potenza (Year 12 OLS 2) represented Servite College at this event at Aranmore Catholic College with Mr Callus on Tuesday 20 March.
Archbishop of Perth, the Most Reverend Timothy Costello SDB, Bishop Don Sproxton, Auxillary Bishop of Perth and Ms Diana Alteri, representing the acting CEO of Catholic Education WA, Mrs Debra Sayce, each spoke to the assembly.
We learned about LifeLink, as the organisation established by the Archdiocese of Perth in 1994 to provide for the ongoing financial and promotional support of agencies established or assisted by the Church and some of the wonderful work of agencies working under the LifeLink umbrella.
LifeLink’s agencies deliver professional services and caring support to thousands of people in need throughout Western Australia each year.
After officially launching the LifeLink Appeal 2018, Archbishop Costello and Bishop Sproxton invited questions from the student audience. Anika and Cecilia both contributed with questions of their own.
The Archbishop presented each school with a special plaque to commemorate the support schools have given to the work of LifeLink. Andrea Potenza, Service Captain, accepted the plaque on behalf of Servite College and will present it to our Principal at the next College assembly.
