iServi News | 4 December 2020 | Term 4, Week 8
2020 has changed how the world views art. Rather than merely talking about how technology can make art more accessible, people are actively embracing opportunities to experience art online. Certainly nothing will ever take the place of physically viewing a piece of art, however, virtual viewing of art has meant that it can now be seen by many.
The Arts Learning Area at Servite is delighted to continue development of our virtual exhibition program. Following the success of our Semester 1 Showcase, where we received over 5000 views from around the world, we are proud to launch our second Semester 2 Virtual Art Showcase this week. We encourage you to view the exhibition and share the experience with your families and friends.
Once again, work on display is taken from Years 7 to 12, featuring the final ATAR pieces from the Year 12s, as well as some beautiful oil paintings by Year 9, 10 and 11s. The Year 9s and 11s have explored Cubism and the 10s looked at the work of Tim Burton. The Year 7 Aboriginal style paintings are particularly fantastic. You can also see some beautiful wooden and resin jewellery boxes constructed by the Year 9 students.
To view our Virtual Art Showcase, click the button below. The gallery website may take some time to load. Once you enter the gallery, you can take a guided tour by pressing the play button. In the top right corner there is an information button with tips for navigating the website. Click on each of the artworks to get up closer, see the students names, read some artist statements, and enjoy viewing our talented students’ work.
Thank you to the Arts Team and the talented Art students at Servite College for another wonderful year.
