iServi News | 26 June 2020 | Term 2, Week 9
The week following the exam block, it was unbelievable to see how Year 12 Students were able to bounce back in positive and encouraging ways with their fellow peers.
Over a three day period, beginning on Tuesday 16 of June, a ‘Secret Santa’ event was held and named ‘The Butterfly Effect’ to establish how a small token or note can positively impact someone’s day.
On the first day, students received a heart warming or encouraging message in the form of a letter or note from their anonymous person.
The following day, students were asked to use their imagination to think of a gift that best matches the person interests.
There was a feeling of suspense and mystery established in the days leading up to the revelation of the anonymous person and students were really curious to figure out who their anonymous person was.
It was fantastic to see students intent to try and figure out the interests of the person they had to buy a gift for, this showed the willingness of the Year 12 cohort to keep on pursuing the sense of community.
Finally, at recess on Thursday of Week 8, the Year 12 group gathered together in the upstairs area of the Alexis Building to reveal their anonymous identity along with a small gift to bring happiness and joy.
