Student Code of Conduct: Feeling Accepted
This week, the focus of our exploration of the Student Code of Conduct is feeling RESPECTED.
Not only is ‘Respect’ part of our Student Code of Conduct, it also one of our core Servite values.
As members of the Servite community we are united around a common set of life-giving values that are fundamental to our common vision. Together we give the best of ourselves to provide a positive learning environment for all members of the community, including growing in faith and our responsible participation in society.
When we use our values to make decisions, we make a deliberate choice to focus on what is important to us. When values are shared, they build internal cohesion in a group.
Our values inform our thoughts, words, and actions.
In understanding the meaning of respect, we acknowledge that our love of God calls us to demonstrate the same kind of love for others, for our work, of learning, and a love for our College so that we take pride in all that we achieve together.
Respect is the most fundamental thing that must be felt if people are to associate with each other as human beings. It must be shown irrespective of someone’s talents, accomplishments, or our relationship with them. Respect is about treating everyone with dignity and love. Put simply, respect is given because the other person is a human being.
