iServi News | 11 December 2020 | Term 4, Week 9
As 2020 draws to a close, I would like to recommend two items that may enable reflection and growth in preparation for the coming year.
The Social Dilemma
The first is ‘The Social Dilemma’ a highly evocative Netflix documentary that encourages viewers to mindfully reflect on their screen time and use of social media leading into the holiday break.
Grief Centre of WA
The second is The Grief Centre of WA. This local organisation is holding events to support people from all walks of life as they cope with grief in its many forms.
Their first event, In Memory of Ordinary Things, provides the opportunity for you to bring a special object to honour the loss of a loved one, a pet or any other heartache and have your photo taken. For more info about this event, and to RSVP go here.
The Grief Centre’s Support Groups will continue over the summer holiday period. These are a ‘By Donation’ service for anyone in grief no matter when or how the loss occurred. Come regularly, or whenever you feel the need for extra connection, understanding and support.
Lean Into It
6pm – 7pm Tuesdays, intended to provide support for youth experiencing grief between the ages of 12 – 25yrs.
Life After Loss
9.30am – 11.30am Wednesdays, or online from 6.30pm – 7.30pm, aimed at supporting adults in their grief.
Down the Track –
2 – 4pm third Saturday each month, a support group for those who are further along the Grief Journey.
May you have a happy and safe Christmas.
