COVID-19 Coronavirus Requirements
What to do if you have COVID-19 or are a close contact
11 August 2022
Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Delivery
As part of the State Government’s Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) program, each student will receive a package of 20 free nasal swab RATs this week.
The majority of our RATs were distributed to students during Homeroom today.
Students in Annunziata Priory will receive their RATs tomorrow, along with students in a small number of additional Homerooms that were unable to complete their distribution today.
If your child has COVID-19 symptoms, they should stay home and be tested. Please continue to notify the school if your child tests positive for COVID-19 or if they are a household close contact.
For more information on testing and isolation requirements, go to the HealthyWA website.
Thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our school COVID Safe.

Masks
The current baseline public health settings regarding mask wearing in Western Australia remain unchanged; however, with the recent increase in COVID-19 numbers it is timely to remind our community of mask wearing requirements.
Masks are required for people aged 12 years and older in the following settings:
• Hospitals and health care settings including:
– GPs
– Aboriginal health services
– Dental and optical health clinics
– Allied health services such as physiotherapy, radiology and occupational therapy services.
• Aged care facilities, residential care facilities including disability service facilities and mental health residential facilities.
• Public and passenger transport, including school buses, taxis and rideshare vehicles.
• Correctional facilities.
• Aircraft.
The usual exemptions from mask requirements apply.
Masks are encouraged in any setting where physical distancing is not possible.
With the potential for increasing numbers of COVID-19 positive infections, masks are an effective measure to mitigate the risk of infection.
COVID-19 Reinfection Update
COVID-19 reinfection cases were previously defined as cases that occurred more than 12 weeks after an initial infection. Following advice from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) the WA Chief Health Officer, Dr Andrew Robertson has stated that people who have had COVID-19 should again get tested and isolate if they have symptoms more than 28 days after recovering from COVID-19.
This is due to the increasing cases of the BA.4 and BA.5 variants in Western Australia, which have an increased ability to infect people who were previously COVID-19 positive.
Our community is reminded to:
• Isolate and seek COVID-19 testing if unwell or symptomatic and remain in isolation until a negative result is received.
• If a person who has previously had COVID-19 subsequently returns a positive test result after the four-week period, they should not attend school/work and must isolate for 7 days or until they are free of symptoms.
• They do not need a negative test result to leave isolation and go back to school/work if they have isolated for 7 days since testing positive and no longer have symptoms.
• If they have respiratory symptoms (such as a frequent cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny or blocked nose) at the end of 7 complete days, they must continue to isolate until their symptoms resolve.
• The 7-day isolation period means 7 complete days from the time they took their test. This means 7 x 24 hours. For example, if they tested positive at 3pm on a Monday, the isolation period ends at 3pm the following Monday.
• To check eligibility for the fourth dose winter booster vaccination.
• To report their COVID-19 result via www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/ratregister.
• To report their positive result via the CEWA COVID-19 Self Reporting Portal.
Close Contacts
A reminder that a close contact is defined as:
• A household member of a person with COVID-19 who has had contact with them during their infectious period.
• Someone who has had close personal interaction with a person with COVID-19 during their infectious period, where they spent 4 hours of cumulative contact with them in a residential setting (including a home or residential boarding facility) in any 24-hour period where masks have been removed by both people during the period of contact.
• Someone who is informed by WA Health that they are a close contact.
Close contacts who do not have symptoms are strongly encouraged to:
• Avoid non-essential gatherings and contact with people at risk of severe illness.
• Work from home, where possible.
• Advise their school or Care Services Manager of their close contact status.
• Test daily and if testing negative and are asymptomatic, they may attend school/work but must wear a mask at all times out of the home or residential/boarding facility and isolate at all other times.
More information can be accessed here.
Thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our school COVID Safe.

Changes to Mandatory Vaccination Requirements
Dear Parents and Caregivers
I would like to again acknowledge and thank you for the ongoing support of our school community especially during the challenging times of the COVID-19 global pandemic.
I am writing to let you know that in line with WA Health advice, from 10 June 2022 the mandatory vaccination policy was updated which means that staff in schools and residential facilities will no longer need to be vaccinated.
The triple dose vaccination requirements only remain in place for those working in healthcare and health support, workers in residential aged care, and workers in residential disability settings.
As you know, students are not required to be vaccinated, however if your child is on a work placement at one of these settings, they will need to continue to comply with the industry/business requirements at that workplace.
The change to the policy means that parents and caregivers who regularly visit, volunteers, third party providers and contractors are not required to be vaccinated to enter a school or residential facility.
We will continue to follow health advice and COVID-19 safe protocols, such as staying home when sick, wearing a mask as required, taking a daily RAT when identified as a close contact, and having good hand hygiene.
As a Catholic school our priority is always the health, safety and wellbeing of our students and all members of our broader community.
For further information refer to healthywa.wa.gov.au.
Thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our school COVID Safe.

COVID Safe Learning Update
Thank you again to each member of our community for your responsiveness and resilience as COVID Safe requirements continue to evolve. As a Catholic College, the safety and wellbeing of our students is always our priority, as is showing care and support for all in our community.
FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING
The College is prepared for continued delivery of our teaching and learning programs, consistent with required COVID protocols. As necessary, the College will operate in flexible learning modes. Following previous communications with families, Servite learning programs are now being delivered in Face-to-Face mode.
LEARNING DURING ISOLATION
Asymptomatic students (students without COVID symptoms) who are required to isolate at home may learn online using lesson materials available in Microsoft Teams. Class teachers will advise students about the support available to assist with learning from home during isolation.
While the College is operating in Face-to-Face mode, Teams video calls may not be available in all lessons and students learning from home may not receive immediate feedback from teachers during lesson time.
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
Staff, students, families and visitors are not to attend school or learn from home if they are unwell. Families are asked to seek medical advice if their child exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 and are encouraged to notify the College if they have undergone testing.
Normal processes for advising the school of a child’s absence will apply for any unwell child. Keeping students home as a precautionary measure will be considered an unapproved absence.
QUESTIONS?
If you have concerns regarding your child, or queries about our Face-to-Face learning model, please contact your Head of Community.
Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Delivery
As part of the State Government’s Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) program, Servite College has received a delivery of free RATs for each student.
On Tuesday 17 May, in Period 6, each student will be provided with a sealed envelope containing 10 RATs. Students will be advised that the envelopes are to be opened by parents and carers only.
These free RATs will support our students to continue to attend school for face-to-face learning and will minimise disruption to their schooling.
You will be able to test your child at home if they are feeling unwell.
You can also use these RATs if your child is a close contact to enable them to test daily and continue to attend school, as long as they receive a negative result, remain asymptomatic, and wear a mask if they are in Year 7 and above.
Further communication will follow.

Baseline Settings
4 May 2022
Western Australia has transitioned to new baseline settings and further easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
Current Catholic Education Western Australia guidelines for parents and caregivers are available here.
CLOSE CONTACTS
A close contact is now defined as:
• A household member of a person with COVID-19 who has had contact with them during their infectious period.
• Someone who has had close personal interaction with a person with COVID-19 during their infectious period where:
– they spent greater than 4 hours of cumulative contact with them in any 24-hour period in a residential setting (for instance a home or accommodation facility);
– masks have been removed by both people during the period of contact.
• Someone who is directed by WA Health that they are a close contact.
• Asymptomatic close contacts are not required to isolate but do have to follow testing and mask wearing requirements.
MASKS
• Asymptomatic close contacts (in Year 7 or above 12 years of age) are required to wear a mask outside of the home at all times.
• The mask mandate no longer applies to staff and students in schools. Students and staff are encouraged to wear a mask should they wish.
• Masks are required on public transport, including public transport taken during the course of school activities, as well as in vehicles provided by schools.
SELF-REPORTING OF RESULTS
Please continue to advise both CEWA and Healthy WA of COVID-19 results for all positive student cases.
Any positive COVID-19 result should be reported on the school’s COVID-19 Self-Reporting Portal and positive COVID-19 RAT results must also be reported on the WA Health RAT Register, as is required by the WA Government.

29 April 2022
CEWA Principal Briefing Summary
The mask mandate has been formally lifted. There are places outside of school where people must continue to wear masks, e.g., hospitals, age facilities etc. There is no requirement for staff, students, or parents to wear masks at school unless they are an asymptomatic household close contact.
Asymptomatic close contacts no longer need to isolate and therefore the ‘critical worker’ protocols are superseded. Asymptomatic close contacts must undertake a daily RAT and can attend school if negative, ensuring they wear a mask.
Symptomatic close contacts must isolate and undertake covid testing. Schools are no longer required to report COVID cases to Health WA with parents and caregivers encouraged to continue using the self-reporting portal.
All year groups can be mixed again and whole school assemblies and activities occur. We will look at returning home rooms back into priories sometime next week, further information will be distributed when we have finalised this.
All restrictions on excursions, incursions, interschool sport, rehearsals, study clubs etc has been lifted.
All parent activities including assemblies, information nights, breakfasts etc can now occur unrestricted.
Students may still be asked for proof of vaccination at some work placements, this is dependent on the worksite.
Camps can occur ensuring all students and staff test negative the night before camps depart and sufficient RATs are taken to camp to test students regularly. It is up to the site to ensure students and staff are clear about covid safety processes. Further information on camps will be distributed to Principals in the coming days.
Thank you for your patience as we continually work through changes. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries or concerns.

As families are aware, mask wearing is optional on campus from Friday 29 April. Students, staff and visitors are encouraged to stay safe and mask wearing is still recommended.
All members of our community are reminded to:
– Stay home if you’re unwell
– Get tested if you have symptoms
– Isolate if you’re positive and follow the specific rules if you’re a close contact
– Maintain good hygiene and wear a mask as necessary.

26 April 2022
I hope you had a blessed Easter with your family and are refreshed and ready for all Term 2 has in store for us.
This afternoon Premier McGowan announced that public health measures in Western Australia will be eased back to baseline settings from 12.01am on Friday 29 April. Please note that additional updates will be provided to all families around these changes over the coming days.
Masks remain mandatory on campus until Friday 29 April.
The following measures are in place until further notice:
The Premier announced on 13 April 2022 that the Western Australian close contact definition will now align with the National Cabinet’s definition.
CLOSE CONTACTS
This means that a close contact is now defined as:
- a family or household member of a person with COVID-19 who has had contact with them during their infectious period;
- someone who has had close interaction with a person with COVID-19 during their infectious period, where they spent more than 4 hours with them in a single day, in a residential setting, including a boarding facility, where masks have not been worn; or
- someone who is directed by WA Health that they are a close contact.
Schools are no longer considered close contact venues. A child who attends class with a peer who later tests positive to COVID-19 will no longer be identified as a close contact.
Any child who becomes symptomatic should stay home and be tested for COVID-19. Please continue to refer to healthywa.wa.gov.au for information on close contact definitions, testing and isolation requirements.
The easing of restrictions has meant some of our school activities can resume this term, including school camps. We will provide more information on the requirements and additional COVID-19 considerations for each activity as they arise on the school calendar.
We are looking forward to a vibrant and exciting Term 2.

24 March 2022
As we approach the school holidays, I would like to provide an update on the College’s COVID Safe plans for Term 2.
Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) School Operating Guidelines for Term 2 are available here:
While we will be operating in the Very High Caseload Level 1 Guidelines, there is some easing of restrictions. Year level assemblies and some larger events can take place, and parents are able to come onsite for events and parent/teacher interviews. Mask wearing is here to stay for a little longer, and Homerooms will continue in the horizontal format. There are also more opportunities for sport (including interschool competitions) and performing arts (including rehearsals and performances).
The College has sought to make school life as normal as possible for students this year. Where an event or program cannot go ahead, our aim is always to reschedule or reimagine rather than cancel. Our modified Retreat programs, Priory swimming carnivals and assemblies are all examples of this. We look forward to many more events occurring in Term 2 onwards.
SELF-REPORTING OF RESULTS
Please continue to advise both CEWA and Healthy WA of COVID-19 results for all positive student cases including during the school holidays.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Please continue to encourage your child to wear their mask correctly and explain the importance of doing so, keep them well-stocked with masks and do not send them to school if they are unwell.
I would like to again thank our entire community for the care and support provided in keeping the school safe for students, families and staff.

The process for reporting COVID-19 cases has been updated.
Catholic Education Western Australia has developed a ‘COVID-19 Self-reporting Form for Students and Staff’, available here.
Parents, carers and staff are now asked to inform the College of a positive or negative COVID result via this form. The information will go directly to the Principal, prompting our COVID-19 response.
Parents, carers and staff are also reminded to report positive RAT results directly to WA Health.
Informing the College of a positive COVID case minimises the risk to others and helps keep our community safe.
Families are asked to follow the steps below and to contact your Head of Community with any queries.

Very High Caseload Settings
10 March 2022
I would like to again acknowledge and thank you for the ongoing support of our school community, especially as we move into the new very high caseload settings as announced by the State Government yesterday.
The Servite Order and Catholic Education Western Australia continue to work closely with both the Department of Education and the Department of Health (WA Health) to ensure the safety of all students.
The main change affecting your child in these new very high caseload settings is around the way different types of close contacts are able to quarantine. All other requirements are still in place.
The additional close contact measures have been implemented following the latest advice of WA Health with a view to keeping schools open and continuing face-to-face learning for our students, while balancing this with the safety of students, staff and the school community.
How is a Close Contact identified?
Students are considered close contacts if they are:
- A household member of a person with COVID-19 who has had contact with them during their infectious period.
- Someone who has had close interaction with a COVID-19 positive case during their infectious period, including:
-
- At least 15 minutes face to face contact where a mask was not worn by the exposed person and the person with COVID-19; or
- Greater than two hours within a small room or a classroom environment with a person with COVID-19 during their infectious period, where masks have been removed for this period by the exposed person and the person with COVID-19 (note: others wearing masks in this scenario would not be a considered a close contact); or
- Someone who is directed by WA Health that they are a close contact.
What are the changes to Quarantine?
Close Contact: Asymptomatic Student Quarantine
Asymptomatic means a person has no symptoms of COVID-19.
Asymptomatic students identified as close contacts (but not household close contacts) can continue to:
- attend school;
- participate in school-based sporting, music, cultural training, practice or events that are organised by or take place at our school, and are held immediately before or after school; and
- travel directly between their usual place of residence and school. Public transport should only be used if there are no other options available.
At all other times, asymptomatic close contacts should quarantine at home for 7 days and get tested, as per the requirements for close contacts, as follows:
- undertake a COVID-19 test on Day 1 and Day 6, if a PCR test; or
- undertake a COVID-19 test on Day 1 and on Day 7, if a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
Household Close Contact: Asymptomatic Student Quarantine
Asymptomatic means a person has no symptoms of COVID-19.
If a member of your household is COVID-19 positive, then every member of the household is deemed as a household close contact. Testing and quarantine protocols apply and your child must not attend school.
If your child is unwell, they should stay at home and get tested.
As a Catholic school our priority is always the health, safety and wellbeing of our students and all members of our broader community.
More information on the very high caseload protocols is available here.
All families are reminded to please notify the College if your child tests positive to COVID-19.
If you have queries or concerns regarding your child, please contact your Head of Community.
If you have health concerns, please contact WA Health on 1300 316 555 or at PHOpsClinical@health.wa.gov.au

Year 7 Remote Learning
22 March 2022
Following the COVID-19 Updates shared with all families, Servite College continues to receive advice that members of our staff and student community have tested positive for COVID-19. Students and staff identified as close contacts are being advised and will follow current requirements for testing and quarantine.
Year 7 Remote Learning: 23-25 March 2022
A spike in active cases this week has seen positive test results reported by a significant number of students within the Year 7 cohort, approaching a band of 15-20% of this year group. Current case numbers in Years 8-12 are modest and additional measures are not considered necessary at this time.
The Servite Order and Catholic Education Western Australia have determined Servite College requires a circuit breaker to manage a current cluster of cases in Year 7. The College will transition to our remote learning model for Year 7 students for three days this week (Term 1, Week 8).
During this time, students in Year 7 are asked to complete their learning programs at home through the College’s remote learning model.
The remote learning model is in place for all Year 7 students from Wednesday 23 March to Friday 25 March.
If your child is unable to work at home and requires supervision at the College, please notify your Head of Community.
- Year 7 students are invited to take any items stored in their locker home this afternoon, Tuesday 22 March 2022.
- Year 7 students may also collect learning materials and personal belongings from the College by 9.00am Wednesday 23 March 2022.
- Students based in the Learning Diversity Centre will be supported with learning packs. If your child has not yet received a learning pack, please contact the Learning Diversity Centre.
- Year 7 Winter Uniform Fittings planned for this week will be rescheduled, further information will follow.
- Year 7 cocurricular activities are on hold for the remainder of this week. Year 7s are not to attend Running Club on Wednesday or Friday this week.
We look forward to welcoming our Year 7 students back to campus on Monday 28 March.

Self Reporting
16 March 2022
Thank you to all members of our community for informing the College if they test positive to COVID-19.

- attend school;
