iServi News | 9 December 2022 | Term 4, Week 9
This Term, 11 students from the Learning Diversity Centre participated in an excursion to His Majesty’s Theatre to view a West Australian Ballet adaptation of the iconic ballet Swan Lake.
The theatre was filled with students from many different schools and our students were thrilled to find their seats in the Dress Circle. From these seats they had an excellent view of the stage and right into the orchestra pit.
The production was a modern re-imagining of the story of Swan Lake, set in 1880s Fremantle Harbour, with ancient Noongar music and dance woven through it.
Some of the students found being able to watch the orchestra in action fascinating, while others were enchanted by the characters, especially the villainous Eagle. The students were captivated by the costumes, amazing dancing and overall experience of their day at the theatre.
