Learning Partners
‘Teachers and parents provide a vital support system to help students flourish. Both groups are important. When parents and teachers communicate and work together effectively, it can significantly impact each student’s long-term success’. (Independent School Management, 2018)
At Servite we recognise the importance of parent connection. Strong relationships between parents and teachers have a direct benefit on student success and engagement. In a 2017 study on student engagement conducted by the Commissioner for Children and Young People, 1800 young people from 96 schools across Western Australia were interviewed about their engagement in school and learning. Students identified overwhelmingly that family was the most important thing to them. They also identified that one of the top influencers to engagement was having families who are involved and interested in them and their school.
We are very lucky at Servite to have such a warm and involved parent community. We value our open communication through SEQTA, emails, phone calls and meetings. Teachers and families act as learning partners for each student, encouraging engagement, learning and wellbeing. In doing so, students are supported to achieve their learning and life goals, setting them up for a future of success.
