We entered the FIRST LEGO League Challenge in Term 3. Throughout the Term, we worked on coding and building the robot and counterparts. We also worked on a presentation about a renewable and reliable power source.
On the day of the Regional Qualifiers competition, we arrived at school at 7.30am and headed to Aveley Secondary College where we set up and presented our innovation project to the judges.
We then proceeded to the first run through of the robot challenges. We only got 140 challenge points for our first run through, but luckily the second run was much better with a score of 165 points. On our last run there was some difficulty with transition from each task. The results of the runs gave us a place of 4th out of 25 schools.
At the end of the day our team was announced as the winners of the the Engineering Excellence trophy, which was exciting.
Although we were slightly disappointed not to make it through to the next round, we were happy with the results since all the other schools have done the competition in past years.
