iServi News | 29 May | Term 2, Week 5
Students and staff recently gathered to launch the Servite Knitting Club, a Christian Service Learning initiative to assist people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage in Perth. Participants of all skill levels are invited to gather as the group works to create warm, handmade gifts of beanies, scarves and blankets for those in need.
Generously providing knitting needles and wool, Mrs Cameron, Ms Coombs and Mrs Stirling also shared their expertise in leading the group during their first session. Supported by Ministry staff, the students and Ms Beatty made a great start, learning how to cast off and begin their first item.
The group meets in SH07 every Wednesday during Lunch. This is a very sociable activity for experiencing a sense of belonging and connection, building relationships and enjoying a few laughs, while living our Servite values. New participants are most welcome, from beginners to experienced knitters.
Senior students who wish to use this as a CSL Project are reminded to register their participation through the CSL LibGuide.
