Year 10 Certificate II: Act for Justice
Our College’s award winning 24:7 SERVE program is now in its third year and continues to provide Year 10 students with leadership skills development. Our 2020 student cohort started the year strong, working closely with Caritas Australia to deliver the Just Leadership Day program to a group of more than 75 Year 6 students from Mary MacKillop Catholic Community Primary School, Ballajura.
Aiming to develop the next generation of young leaders who can have a genuine impact on the world, the Caritas Just Leadership program helps to develop a keen awareness for justice and the skills to work within your community to raise awareness of Project Compassion. Our Year 10 students, as part of their Certificate qualification, have been working with Nathan Leber from Caritas Australia to develop and lead activities to support the Just Leadership program.
Our students had a wonderful day with Mary MacKillop students and thoroughly enjoyed the leadership opportunities:
I really enjoyed the leadership role I was given and I thought it was really fun. (Monique Rodriguez, AN4)
It was fun for both me and the students and it helped with my confidence through the day. I felt good about the day and how it went, I feel like the kids will remember the stuff we did. (Jonah Wood, SC3)
I was glad that I got to be able to talk with some with the children about their lives and how engaged they were during most of the activities. (Ira Cuerdo, SE2)
