On Thursday, the 22th June, Servite College hosted its annual Careers Expo. The aims of the event is to bring as many training providers and training options to the one location, to make information easily accessible for students of all years and to expand their career choices horizon. The event featured a total of 28 exhibitors from a wide range of education and training providers including each of the 6 Universities, North and South Metro TAFE and various trade training organisations.
The 2023 Expo began at 2.30pm, with the exhibitors being greeted to the College by Year 10 Priory student councillors who escorted them and assisted in setting up their displays in the College Gym.
Students attended the Expo according to year groups in an effort to help streamline the flow of students through the exhibits.
As in previous years, students attending the Expo quickly overcame any uncertainty or shyness about speaking to the exhibitors and began asking relevant and probing questions in earnest. In fact, Mr Schirripa, Head of Learning Area – Career Development, commented how proud he was to hear from a number of exhibitors that not only were our students extremely respectful but they showed excellent preparation in the questions they asked and their prior knowledge of the options and pathways available,
With all these exhibitors in the one place at the one time, students had a unique opportunity to explore all possible options post Year 12. The feedback from those who attended was extremely positive and if the amount of materials students left the Gym with is any indication, it was a very productive afternoon.
Overall, the 2023 Servite Careers Expo was an incredible and extremely valuable experience for all students irrespective of their career goals. We look forward for similar success in 2024 as we continue to refine and make appropriate improvements to the Expo to ensure the best educational outcomes for Servite students.
