Principal Announcement

WELCOME MR MICHAEL CHIERA

I am a faith-driven educational leader committed to nurturing the spiritual, intellectual and emotional growth of every student in the light of the Gospel. I believe that Catholic education is a sacred partnership between school, family and Church that forms young people to be compassionate, critical thinkers who live with purpose, dignity and hope.

Grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ, I strive to lead communities where Christ is known and loved, where inclusivity and pastoral care are lived daily, and where each learner is supported to realise their God-given potential. I value authentic relationships, data-informed practices and a strategic mindset that honours both mission and excellence.

Through courageous, nuanced leadership, I seek to serve Catholic school communities with humility and clarity of purpose, ensuring that all members are inspired to grow in faith, learning and service.

Servite’s vision, “Becoming all we are created to be” reflects the conviction that has guided my work, that each child carries unique gifts that must be nurtured, celebrated and directed toward meaningful contribution to community. With that foundation, the way we build leadership across staff becomes pivotal. I am committed to distributed and collaborative leadership. I nurture teams by coaching into strengths and differences, building trust and shared growth.

The Servite story is rich, and I seek to continue to capture it in ways that are visible, meaningful and accessible for students, staff and the wider community. As the new Principal of Servite College I will champion student voice, advance professional learning, lead continuous improvement, deliver contemporary programs and facilities. This is the leader I strive to be. I bring a record of faith-filled service, disciplined improvement and community building, and I am committed to helping each young person become all they are created to be.

Experience

– Currently Vice Principal and has been Acting Principal at Newman College.
– Newman College is also an order governed school
– Prior to Newman College, Michael was Acting Vice Principal, Deputy Principal and Director of Learning Technologies and Innovation at Sacred Heart College

Qualifications

– Bachelor of Science
– Graduate Diploma in Education (secondary)
– Master of Education
