Behind the Scenes at ABC
Our Senior ASDAN: Current Affairs and Performing Arts students recently visited ABC Studios Perth for an exciting behind-the-scenes experience.
Led by radio producer Natalie Jones, students explored the newsroom and radio studios, learning how news is created and broadcast. They visited the studio where Nadia Mitsopoulos presents the ABC Morning Show, and were lucky enough to meet her and hear about her most memorable (and nerve-wracking!) interviews—INXS being a standout.
Students discovered that around 150 staff work behind the scenes at ABC News and met a sound engineer and content director, gaining insight into the many roles involved in media.
They also took part in a Q&A with Natalie Jones and Gianni DiGiovanni, asking thoughtful questions about careers, favourite aspects of the job, and industry challenges.
A highlight for many was stepping behind the news desk and trying their hand at being a presenter.
The day wrapped up with a relaxing picnic lunch at Wellington Square.
A fantastic opportunity to connect learning with real-world experiences and explore future pathways in media.
