ACC Inclusive Beach Carnival

The sun was shining and the LDC Cohort left Servite keen to get their feet in the sand and immerse themselves in to Ocean at Hillary’s Beach at this year’s ACC Inclusive Beach Carnival.
The two dozen LDC students sat patiently through the briefing, keen to take in the day’s schedule and hear what lay ahead.

First off it was the Ironman race. Run, Swim, Board, Run.

With an early sea breeze already creating white caps, the Senior Middle and Junior students who took part had to muster up courage to wade through the waves and make it around the boys to the sand and run to the finish line.

Representing the Juniors, Alex finished second place, and earned himself a medal.

New Senior Student Logan, who only arrived in Australia a few weeks ago from Liverpool in the UK, embraced his first time swimming in the Indian Ocean and also ended up with a medal for his Ironman efforts.

After a short recess break to fuel up, the students got into the team games. The Body Board riding was a favourite all round and it was encouraging to see 90 per cent of the LDC Team out in the surf giving it a go. The sponge squeeze and Totem Tennis also a hit amongst the students.

The icing on the cake was the sausage sizzle supplied by host school Sacred Heart, enjoyed by staff and students picnicking on the grass – a nice end to a fun-filled day.
