Languages Week at the College

Languages Week 2026 was a wonderful celebration of the many languages, cultures and traditions that make our community so rich and diverse. Throughout the week, students and staff had the opportunity to learn, share and celebrate the fantastic variety of cultures from around the world.

Celebrations started with homeroom activities that included a lively game of Tombola (Bingo), a much-loved Italian Christmas tradition. Students also put their knowledge to the test throughout the week with Kahoots and quizzes, exploring the languages, cultures and traditions that enrich our global community.

During the breaks on Monday, the Terrazza came alive with traditional Italian card games, with students enjoying favourites including Briscola and Scopa.
Our much-loved Sharitage Day brought staff together to share delicious dishes inspired by their cultural backgrounds. It was a wonderful celebration of heritage, food and community, with plenty of opportunities to discover something new.

During Wednesday break times, students had the chance to enjoy some of Perth’s finest gelati thanks to the team from That Little Gelato Cart – a definite crowd-pleaser!

To finish the week on a high note, our talented Language students from Year 7 to Year 12 performed Italian songs together at lunchtime. Their performances were a joyful reminder of the powerful role that music, language and culture play in bringing people together.

Languages Week is a wonderful reminder that every language and culture has something unique and beautiful to share. Let’s continue celebrating our diversity and sharing our languages and cultures all year round.
