From The Principal: Midterm Newsletter Term 2 2026

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As we approach the halfway point of Term 2, there is much to share and celebrate across our College community. It has been a wonderful few weeks, filled with opportunities for students to engage in the life of the College through ministry, learning, sport, the arts, service and community events.

The term has already offered a rich variety of experiences, beginning with the energy of Humanities Week in the ARC and the inspiring visit from Father Rob Galea. Since then, students have embraced many opportunities across College life, including the Interpriory Cross Country, Liverpool Football Club International Academy games, the Year 10 Retreat, the Year 11 Dinner Dance, OLNA assessments, our Mother’s Day Breakfast, College Photo Day, the Year 7 NAS Carnival, Cape Street Jazz Lounge and the LifeLink Launch, to name just a few.

These experiences remind us that education at Servite is about much more than what happens in the classroom. It is about helping every student discover their gifts, take up opportunities and continue ‘Becoming all we are created to be’.

Becoming All We Are Created to Be

At our recent College Assembly, I spoke with students about our College vision and what it asks of each of us.

I began by congratulating our students representing Servite in the Interschool Cross Country team. Cross country is a wonderful example of preparation, effort, resilience and the willingness to keep going when things become difficult.

This message also connected with recent advice from TISC that early university offers for Year 12 students will be released later this year, not until early October. While this may feel frustrating for some students and families, I encouraged our students to see this as an opportunity to remain focused and continue giving their best.

Sometimes, when reassurance comes too early, it can be tempting to relax before the race is finished. Our challenge is to keep turning up, setting goals that stretch us and making the most of the opportunities before us.

To me, ‘Becoming all we are created to be’ means avoiding the temptation to coast. It means giving our personal best in the classroom, on the sporting field, through music, service, leadership, friendship and daily acts of kindness. It is that quiet sense of satisfaction that comes from knowing we have left nothing on the sideline.

For our Year 12 students in particular, my hope is that when they reach the end of the year, they can look back knowing they stayed focused, made the most of their opportunities and gave their very best.

Year 11 and 12 Students

As our Year 11 and 12 students approach their Semester 1 Examination period, I would like to acknowledge the work, effort and commitment they have shown throughout the first half of the year.

Our senior students are undertaking a range of important pathways, including ATAR, General, UniReady, Certificate courses and Workplace Learning. Each pathway provides valuable opportunities for students to grow, achieve and prepare for life beyond school.

We wish all students well over the coming weeks and encourage them to remain focused, organised and committed to giving their personal best.

Supporting Student Wellbeing at Servite

As part of our Strategic Plan and our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing, Servite College recently partnered with CEWA to participate in a new wellbeing assessment with our Year 7 students.

The assessment explored students’ subjective wellbeing, including their feelings, experiences, sense of belonging, relationships, self-esteem and overall perceptions of how they are going. Wellbeing is an important foundation for learning, as students are best placed to thrive when they feel safe, connected, supported and known.

We were very pleased that the data confirmed our Year 7 students have transitioned well into life at Servite College. In particular, friendship, community and pastoral care emerged as clear strengths, affirming the positive work of our staff and students in welcoming and supporting our newest members of the College community.

We are proud of the safe and inclusive environment we continue to build at Servite. At the same time, we know that wellbeing must be continually nurtured. We will continue to monitor student wellbeing over time, measure the impact of new initiatives, and use this information to identify where further support or intervention may be needed.

At Servite College, we understand that wellbeing is not separate from learning; it is a prerequisite for student success and central to our vision of helping every student become all they are created to be.

Masterplan Update

We are very pleased to share that the Stage 2 build is on track and progressing well. The builders are close to pouring the slab for the Montorsoli Technologies and Arts Centre, which will soon give us a much clearer sense of the building’s footprint.

From there, we expect to see strong progress as the building begins to take shape. This is an exciting stage in the ongoing development of our College facilities, and we look forward to continuing to provide updates over the coming months.
