Welcoming the Migrant Jubilee Cross to Servite College

This week, the Migrant Jubilee Cross arrived at Servite College as part of a nationwide pilgrimage marking the Jubilee Year of Migrants.

We were honoured to welcome Mr Dan Wood (Director of School Improvement and Wellbeing, CEWA) and Deacon Greg Lowe (Director of the West Australian Catholic Migrant and Refugee Office), along with our Principal, Mr Michael Chiera, and our Head Boy, Head Girl, Ministry Captains, and student leaders from Years 7–9. Students and staff from Our Lady of Good Counsel, Holy Rosary, and St Gerard’s also joined us for a beautiful liturgy, thoughtfully prepared by Ms Melissa Trolio (Consultant, Formation and Mission, CEWA) and led by Fr Albert.

The celebration featured a moving procession of the Migrant Jubilee Cross and boat.

Following the liturgy, students took part in a reflective activity, inviting them to contemplate the experiences of migrants and to consider the many gifts and contributions they bring to their new countries.

Thank you to all who attended, and Fr Albert for celebrating the liturgy. This special occasion provided an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the faith, gifts, contributions, and resilience that migrant communities bring to our local Church and the wider world.
