Visiting the relic of St Carlo Acutis

On Tuesday, Servite students had the privilege of attending a very special event at CEWA: the viewing of the relic of St Carlo Acutis.

The faith formation experience invited students to learn about the inspiring life of St Carlo, pray a decade of the Rosary, and write prayer intentions that will be taken to Assisi, where they will be placed on the altar for 24 hours.

Students also listened to an address by Kate Hobbs (President of Friends of St Carlo Acutis Australia) that detailed his life and his miracles and Father Albert was asked to provide a blessing to visitors in attendance as a group and individually as they were venerating the relic.

St Carlo Acutis holds a unique connection to the Servite community. Born in London, he was baptised at Our Lady of Dolours Church in Chelsea, a parish entrusted to the Servite Friars and origin to the Servite, St Mary Priory.

Raised in Milan, Carlo developed a profound love for the Eucharist and the Mass, while dedicating himself to serving those experiencing poverty and hardship. Gifted in computer programming, he created a website documenting Eucharistic miracles from around the world, combining his passion for technology with his deep faith.

Carlo passed away from leukaemia in 2006 at just 15 years of age. Following numerous miracles attributed to his intercession, he was beatified in 2020 and canonised in 2025. His life continues to inspire young people across the world to live with faith, compassion and purpose.

We are grateful for this meaningful opportunity for our students to deepen their faith and reflect on the remarkable witness of St Carlo Acutis.
