Our students have been impressing us with the quality of art they are producing in preparation for our Visual Arts + Technology Showcase.
Year 7s have been studying the elements of Design and applying what they have learnt into producing two-dimensional pieces in the form of Japanese Notan designs, and ceramic pots.
Year 8 Art and Design students focused on Pop Art and created brightly coloured ceramics, based on their interpretation of the theme ‘Food’. These classes used the same theme to work on small rendered still life drawings.
Year 9s have produced two-dimensional artworks based on the Cubist and Fauvist Art movements. These students have created wonderful animals made from wire and found objects.
Working on the theme of Still Life, Year 10 Fine Art students chose an Art movement to work with and produced a painting in a similar style. The Year 10 Art and Design class have produced clay mobile phone holders and candle burners, as well as Skate decks inspired by street artists of their own choice.
The Year 11 ATAR students have spent these semester studying different interpretations of the landscape. Also on display is their ‘plein air’ paintings that the girls completed whilst on camp at Nannup.
Year 11 and Year 12 General Art students have completed several projects over the year which include their interpretation of Mary, and a variety of sculptures based on the theme of the Ocean.
There will also be delicious drop cakes on the display from the Year 10 Food Technologies class and pyjama shorts created by Year 10 Textile students.
There are works on display from Wood-Technologies including wooden trucks, decorative resin boxes, mobile phone holders and table lamps. The senior class also built side tables which will also be on display.
Year 8 Media have taken some interesting photos for the Showcase and the screens will be showing videos created by our Year 9 and 10 students.
