YEAR 11 OUTDOOR ED EXPEDITION

Topic Learning
Date May 12, 2025

In Week 2 of this term, students from the Year 11 General Outdoor Education program completed the Wellington Spur Trail in Collie, part of the iconic Bibbulmun Track.

Hiking through jarrah, marri forests and pine plantations on Noongar Country, students developed their navigation and camp craft skills while following the ‘7 Leave No Trace Principles’. A chilly first night (6’C) was comforted by eating chocolate brownies and toasting marshmallows on the campfire.

Students were challenged both physically and mentally while tackling the different terrains. The students were fortunate enough to experience the awe of the Wellington Dam Wall Mural as they walked across it to the finish line of their trek. An experience, many few can claim to have done so.

This expedition has equipped the students with the confidence, skills and resilience needed for their next expedition in Semester 2.
