Father’s Day Breakfast
It was wonderful to see so many families at our Father’s Day Breakfast this morning. During this event we shared our gratitude and love for father figures in our lives.
On Sunday we will all celebrate Father’s Day differently. What we will share in common is that we will take time to reflect on the love, values, guidance, culture, identity and inspiration that fathers give to our community.
For me, Father’s Day is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of men in my family including my own dad, my grandfather, my uncles, my father in law and my husband, father of my children. My father sadly passed at the age of 71, eight years ago. He was an incredible man. A migrant at the age of 17, I have always admired his resilience and courage. He worked hard and taught my sisters and I to be independent, hardworking women.
At Servite, we value our heritage and our founding fathers. Today we honour them and thank our community for continuing the Servite story. I thank the fathers and father figures of today’s Servite College community for all the gifts they share with us and for trusting us with their precious children.
Prayer for Fathers
Heavenly Father, you entrusted your Son Jesus, the child of Mary, to the care of Joseph, an earthly father. Bless all fathers as they care for their families. Give them strength and wisdom, tenderness and patience; support them in the work they have to do, protecting those who look to them, as we look to you for love and salvation, through Jesus Christ our rock and defender. Amen.
