Leadership at Servite
We want our students to enter society with a strong sense of their place in our global economy and strive to ensure they are equipped with the skills to grow both their own capacity and the capacity of others.
Our philosophy is that we are all learners and all leaders. Therefore, all students at Servite are given the opportunity to lead in a variety of ways, whether it is within the classroom, the year level or the whole school community.
We develop Servant Leaders who understand that their role as a leader is to put the needs of others before their own. Our student leaders, whether in a formal position or not, nurture abilities in themselves and others to make an ethical and socially just impact on our campus and in the wider community.
Student Leaders at the College complete leadership development training and participate in mentoring programs. Our leadership structure includes a Student Executive, made up of our Head Boy and Head Girl and leaders from Years 7 to 12 of Community, Sport, Culture, ICT and Ministry.
In looking to 2021, we recently commenced the selection process for our Year 12 leadership team. This team, led by the Head Girl and Head Boy, model quality leadership for the rest of our community. They lead by example and encourage others to step forward to make a positive contribution to our community and to the lives of others.
I am very pleased therefore to announce the following two senior student leadership positions for 2021:
Head Girl – Anika Desai
Head Boy – Jonathan Marchesi
In speaking with Anika and Jonathan this week, they indicated how proud they were to be representing the College as Head Girl and Head Boy respectively next year. They are looking forward to the positive impact that they can have on shaping the growth and development of our College.
Anika and Jonathan are also looking forward to building student camaraderie, centred around a deep sense of compassion for one another. They are aiming to instil a strong sense of connection amongst the students to support the ongoing development of our rich Servite community, where we celebrate our uniqueness. They are both excited at the thought of working closely with staff and the College’s Executive team in contributing to the future strategic direction of the College.
Anika and Jonathan both believe in the importance of being quality role models for other students and are looking forward to assisting in the development of future leaders at the College. They are excited to be able to represent the Graduating Class of 2021 next year and to encourage their lasting contribution to our Servite story.
We congratulate Anika and Jonathan and wish them both all of the very best in their leadership roles for next year.
I would like to acknowledge all of the Head Girl and Head Boy applicants for their courage in putting their hand up to lead. We commend them for their outstanding support of the College. The appointment process for the remaining senior leadership positions continues and we look forward to updating our community once this is complete.
As Servites we are ‘called to Serve’, so it is wonderful to see so many enthusiastic students willing to step forward to contribute their ideas and energy in service of others.
