Awards Night
On Monday of this week, we paused to celebrate the year at our annual College Awards Night.
In Mr Allen’s video address to the community during the evening, he reflected that we are most fortunate to belong to a Servite story that flavours our thinking and actions. The Seven Holy Founders’ capacity to face adversity without losing sight of their goal and their unconditional support of one another provides us with great example of working together in a dynamic learning community.
As Mr Allen observed, “Devotion to Mary was the key theme of an address Pope Francis made to all of the Servite Friars at their biennial General Chapter in Rome this year. He reminded the Friars to never move from the founding grace to be a servant and to continue to focus on Our Lady, who ‘despite everything that happened in her life, looked forward; she was a woman of Hope.’ Pope Francis suggests that being hopeful means finding the courage to manage challenges we may face.
As a school we therefore have been gifted a very clear pathway forward, that is, to be hopeful, courageous and unrelenting in enabling the growth of every person within our community, and to instil in them a sense of genuine humble service and consideration of others.”
We acknowledge the wonderful efforts of our students this year. We congratulate them for their resilience, persistence, growth mindset and for immersing themselves in the many learning opportunities on offer at the College.

Parents and Friends
Last week I mentioned that Mrs Tania Cleverly (President) and Mrs Maria Carlino (Executive Member) had stepped down from their positions for 2020. Farewells and acknowledgements were included in our final Parents and Friends meeting for 2019, however I thought it would be appropriate to share our gratitude in iServi.
Mrs Tania Cleverly
Tania has been associated with the College for nine years. During this time Tania has been positively involved in the education of her children and she has volunteered to organise and support a number of activities culminating in holding the position of Parents and Friends President. As President Tania has ensured that the needs of the parent body were given a voice and established good relationships with the Principal and College Executive in achieving the vision of the College. Tania displayed an organised work ethic that enabled all programs to run smoothly and made our College shine. Her efforts along with other Committee members has seen enormous growth in our College. Tania has been integral to the important advances we have made, particularly in the four domains of the College. She is a wonderful example to all parents.
Mrs Maria Carlino
Maria has been associated with the College for 12 years. I would like to acknowledge Maria’s terrific contribution to Servite College as a member of the Parents and Friends Executive Committee. Maria has always been actively involved in the P&F events and I have appreciated the quiet and efficient way she attends to her duties as a committee member. She is supportive of all initiatives and shows commitment and enthusiasm with all events, ideas and strategies. Maria has always and will continue to be a great asset to the College community and the College truly has appreciated all the work that she has contributed to the P&F.
2020 Fee Schedule
In future planning, a key component for the College is the 2020 financial budget. A detailed budget was recently presented to the Servite College Council which included school fee adjustments for 2020. In setting the fees for the upcoming year, due consideration was given to the financial position of families along with the need to ensure the ongoing growth and financial viability of our College. After careful deliberation, we are pleased to inform our community that the fee increase is limited to 1.95% for 2020, with a Capital Levy of $50 per family.
Master Plan
College Reception, Student Reception and Finance are now located on the ground floor of the Shanahan Building, with access exclusively via Cape Street.
The “Big Top” cover over the walkway from the Alexis Building across to the Shanahan Building has been removed and the construction site has been extended. Access to the Alexis Building will be from the lawn end. Access to lower Shanahan Building lockers and Staff Room will be along Cape Street.
All entry to the Shanahan Building will be via the Sarpi Building entrance in the middle of the basketball court or via the entrance near College Reception.
The Special Education Centre will continue to operate out of AL01 in the Alexis Building until the end of Term.
We ask that extra care and patience be shown during this time. Regular updates will be provided to our extended Servite community throughout the construction process.
