iServi News | 8 November 2019 | Term 4, Week 4
Our Servite community is aware that Mr Jeff Allen is currently on leave and spending some well-earned time with his family. As such it is my pleasure to provide the Principal’s iServi articles in an Acting role until the end of the year. Reflecting on this week, I am filled with joy seeing our busy, vibrant College.
This week saw our Year 10 students attend the Outdoor Education camp; one of the highlights on our Learning calendar. Our students return exhausted but proud of their efforts and achievements in so many challenges.
On Wednesday night I had the pleasure of attending our Semester 2 Visual Arts Showcase. The standard of the artwork was exceptional. I would like to extend my appreciation and congratulations to all students that exhibited their work and to Mrs Lombardi, Ms Howells, Mr Williams and Mr Laing who have provided such high quality instruction.
Our Year 11 students had their farewell mass on Wednesday and commenced their exams on Thursday. I wish them all the best for the remainder of their exams and hope that they seize the opportunity to ensure their performance truly reflects all their learning.
Our Year 11 General students were involved in mock interviews this week. This was a wonderful and authentic experience for our students as the interview panels consisted of industry specialists. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Community members and our external interview professionals.
Our Year 9 students continue to participate in their Christian Service Learning Program, and it is delightful to see students immersed in service to others. Our students shine in this area of Ministry.
Also this week I met with our Parents and Friends President Mrs Tania Cleverly to discuss the evolution of our Parents and Friends Forum. There are some exciting NEW aspects in the way the Parents and Friends will progress into 2020. Mrs Cleverly has contacted all families calling for expressions of interest for the role of Chairperson and three Parent Forum Leaders.
I encourage all parents to attend our next Parent event from 6.30pm on Wednesday 27 November, in the Alexis Research Centre. Light refreshments will be provided, please RSVP for catering purposes to rsvp@servite.wa.edu.au
Finally, I would like to share some practical tips from an article that came across my screen this week, “Ten Keys to Happier Living”:
- Do Things For Others
- Connect With People
- Take Care of Your Health
- Notice the World Around You
- Keep Learning New Things.

- Be Part of Something Bigger
I have referred to the checklist above all this week and no surprises…I have had a happy week! I hope all members of our community enjoy a happy week ahead and invite you to visit www.actionforhappiness.org for more resources.
