COVID Safe Learning Update
Thank you again to each member of our community for your responsiveness and resilience as COVID Safe requirements continue to evolve. As a Catholic College, the safety and wellbeing of our students is always our priority, as is showing care and support for all in our community.
FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING
The College is prepared for continued delivery of our teaching and learning programs, consistent with required COVID protocols. As necessary, the College will operate in flexible learning modes. Following previous communications with families, Servite learning programs are now being delivered in Face-to-Face mode.
LEARNING DURING ISOLATION
Asymptomatic students (students without COVID symptoms) who are required to isolate at home may learn online using lesson materials available in Microsoft Teams. Class teachers will advise students about the support available to assist with learning from home during isolation.
While the College is operating in Face-to-Face mode, Teams video calls may not be available in all lessons and students learning from home may not receive immediate feedback from teachers during lesson time.
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
Staff, students, families and visitors are not to attend school or learn from home if they are unwell. Families are asked to seek medical advice if their child exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 and are encouraged to notify the College if they have undergone testing.
Normal processes for advising the school of a child’s absence will apply for any unwell child. Keeping students home as a precautionary measure will be considered an unapproved absence.
QUESTIONS?
If you have concerns regarding your child, or queries about our Face-to-Face learning model, please contact your Head of Community.
Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) Delivery
As part of the State Government’s Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) program, Servite College has received a delivery of free RATs for each student.
On Thursday 19 May, in Period 6, each student will be provided with a sealed envelope containing 10 RATs. Students will be advised that the envelopes are to be opened by parents and carers only.
(Please note this is a new distribution date. Distribution was previously scheduled for Tuesday 17 May.)
These free RATs will support our students to continue to attend school for face-to-face learning and will minimise disruption to their schooling.
You will be able to test your child at home if they are feeling unwell.
You can also use these RATs if your child is a close contact to enable them to test daily and continue to attend school, as long as they receive a negative result, remain asymptomatic, and wear a mask if they are in Year 7 and above.
Further communication will follow.
Parents and Friends Voice: Family Forum
Many thanks to the parents and caregivers who joined our first Family Forum for 2022. Family Forums will be held once or twice a term and all are warmly welcome. These events are designed to provide a platform for family-school and school-family communication in an informal atmosphere. Future forums will include discussion around potential allocation of 2022 Parents and Friends levies, updates on learning programs and facilities including our Nannup Campus and parent, carer and student involvement in the College’s planned process for developing a refreshed academic uniform.
Assessment Policy Updates
The College has recently reviewed our assessment policies for students. The updated Year 7-10 Summative Assessment Policy and Year 11-12 Summative Assessment Policy can both be found on SEQTA Learn (for students) and SEQTA Engage (for parents and caregivers).
Morgans Street Car Park Gate Closures
With NAS Sport recommencing next week, the car park gate on Morgans Street will be closed to enable access for buses and the first aid vehicle. This will occur on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until further notice.
