iServi News | 13 November 2020 | Term 4, Week 5
On the 11 November 2020, we commemorated Remembrance Day in the Learning Diversity Centre by watching a video about the significance of the poppy as the enduring symbol of remembrance of the First World War. Students from Years 7-11 watched a short video about why the poppy is so important to this day. Students then analysed and discussed a picture of four young soldiers from the Australian War Memorial. Finally, students created their own mosaic poppy. The poppies took some time to complete but one of our Year 7 students, Sean Rodriguez, commented that taking the time to complete these was nothing in comparison to the time that the fallen soldiers had given up.
