Child Safety Policies and Statements
We are committed to being a child safe organisation. All members of our College have a fundamental right to be treated with respect, and to learn and work in a safe and supportive environment.
Commitment to Child Safety
The wellbeing and safety of all students is the highest priority for Catholic schools. Catholic Education Western Australia is committed to child safety and leading and supporting a child safe culture for all our schools, care centres and communities.
Catholic Education Western Australia supports every Catholic school to make good decisions that always keep the best interests of the young person first.
Catholic schools meet registration standards and other compliance obligations, including Mandatory Reporting, Codes of Conduct for staff and students, protective behaviours curriculum, training for staff and students, and information for parents and carers.
The Catholic Education Western Australia Child Safe Framework is based on the latest research in child safety for institutions, is in support of best practice, and is consistent with the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse recommendations.
Code of Conduct
We lead and support a mindset and practice of modelling healthy and respectful relationships to prevent problem behaviours and abuse.
Servite College enacts a Code of Conduct that promotes positive work practices and establishes expectations for personal and professional boundaries concerning appropriate and inappropriate behaviour for staff, students, volunteers, parents and guardians, and visitors. There are clear procedures for raising concerns, facilitating discussion, and promoting professional behaviours and healthy relationships.
Child Protection Policy
All children have a right to feel safe, and be safe.
We have zero tolerance of child abuse and all allegations and safety concerns are addressed consistent with our robust policies and procedures.
Bullying and Harassment Policy
Bullying is not tolerated at Servite College.
We nurture the development of positive relationships and communication to discourage all forms of bullying, harassment, aggression and violence.
Healing Historical Harm
Each child should be cherished and affirmed as a gift from God with an inherent right to dignity of life and bodily integrity, which shall be respected, nurtured and protected by all.
Friar Servants of Mary OSM (Servites)
The Order of Servants of Mary continues to acknowledge with deep sadness the abuse of children, adolescents and adults within the pastoral care of the Catholic Church in Australia.
The College is committed to openly and transparently addressing any historical or future allegations of abuse.
The Servite Order remains fully committed to working with the Professional Standards Office of the Australian Catholic Church, Catholic Education Western Australia, the Archdiocese of Perth and Servite College leaders and staff on the continued development and implementation of effective strategies to ensure that we provide a safe environment for all members of the Servite College community.
