Workplace Learning Induction
On Thursday 2 May, the Year 11 and 12 work placement students were involved in a Workplace Learning Induction session to learn about our upcoming work placement and what our experience could look like. The day was very informative and gave me an insight into what work placement will involve. Mrs Williams went through important skills in the workplace, occupational health and safety, self-management and communication. This is vital knowledge that we will take with us when going into the workplace. After the morning session, we had morning tea together and got ready for the next session. In the afternoon we received our logbooks and all details leading up to the starting date of our placement. I am looking forward to going into the workplace and it will be a great experience for us to meet new people, gain knowledge on a particular industry and to figure out if we want to work in that industry. Specifically for me, I’m most looking forward to being in the childcare industry and seeing if I would want to pursue a similar career. Overall the day provided us with great knowledge and information and has made me excited for new a new experience. – Brooke Kuriata (OLS1).
DFA Tool Box Talk
Petty Officer Matthew Cace attended our Pathways Toolbox Talk on Thursday 17 May, as a representative of the Defence Force Australia.
He discussed career pathways, DFA Scholarships, study options and the diverse occupations within the Navy, Army and Air Force.
Students were keen to hear the benefits of working for DFA and the experiences they have had throughout their careers, including their humanitarian work in South East Asia.
Thank you to the students and parents who attended. We look forward to bringing you another Toolbox Talk in Term 3.
