iServi News | 30 August 2019 | Term 3, Week 6
This year’s Angelico Exhibition of Visual Arts has once again proven to be a wonderful showcase of talented Catholic school students from Years 7 – 12 and features an array of creative, colourful, inspirational and spiritual works.
Several students from Year 10 to 12 have had their work chosen to be exhibited at the Angelico Exhibition. Year 10 student Nha Hoang, Year 11 students Gena Faria-Kotnowski and Tianna Priestly Cousens and Year 12 students Emilly Gregson, Christine Stinnette and Chloe Laurence have all had works chosen.
This year, Year 12 student Christine Stinnette took out the Angelico P&F Award. It was chosen on the basis of a student displaying creativity and talent and encourages the chosen student to further pursue their unique artistic endeavours. The criteria for the Catholic Schools Parents WA Encouragement Award is for artwork which has a theme or intention that is reflective of parents and children.
This particular artwork has also been chosen to be exhibited in the Lester Prize. This is a national exhibition of portraiture chosen from student work submitted from across Australia. There are only 30 finalists and this year we have two Servite students whose paintings have been chosen – Christine Stinnette and Brandon Loi. Brandon is a Year 10 Fine Art student, as well as studying Art in classes on the weekend, which is where he completed this portrait of his father.
As well as being exhibited at Brookfield Place’s Tower in Term 4, their work will be digitally displayed on The Big Screen at Perth Cultural Centre, Yagan Square Digital Tower and the City of Perth Library screen during October.
Congratulations again to all these students for their wonderful achievements, in particular, Brandon and Christine.
