iServi News | 23 July 2021 | Term 3, Week 1
This week our Year 7 students came together as a group to learn some new skills on the athletic field. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Year 7 students to spend a day re-connecting as a group and with their Head of Community at the start of a new Term. Many students have not experienced athletic field sports such as discus, high jump and javelin, and they were encouraged to ‘have a go’, after some instruction, in a spirit of fun competition in the lead up to the College Athletics Carnival in Week 3.
It was pleasing to see so many of the Year 7 students participating in the events and showing so much perseverance and resilience, and also such joy during the day. It was a lovely community building experience for our Year 7s at the start of their second semester at Servite College. Now that they know a little more about these events, they may watch the Olympics a little more keenly over the next couple of weeks.
