Student Reflections
This week, which included some of the hottest days of the year, a group of 30 intrepid Year 9 Art students battled the heat to paint a mural on the wall of the College swimming pool area.
Our final design was influenced by a famous artwork titled the ‘Great Wave’ by Japanese artist Hokusai. We included seven waves to symbolize the Seven Holy Founders of the Servite Order.
For three days we worked in shifts, transferring the design, blocking in areas of white and adding in colour before putting on the finishing touches. When we weren’t painting, we dipped our feet into the pool whilst enjoying icy Zooper Doopers, cooling down before our next shift began.
None of us had painted a mural before and we learnt a lot – as well as having a lot of fun!
