Cybersafety expert Mr Paul Litherland delivered an informative presentation to our Year 7 cohort during Pastoral Care Period last week. Our students were eager to learn more about how to protect themselves online and how to be cybersmart.
For parents and carers, tips on supporting your child to have positive online experiences are available here.
Dear Mr Litherland…
Thank you so much for informing my year about cyber safety. Many young people think they are smarter than others when it comes to cyber safety but the reality of these issues is that no matter what, we always need to be careful. You inspired us to take care of our private information and opened our eyes to the real world of scammers, catfishing and how much information is publicly displayed from our devices. I’m sure with your wise words we will all think twice before posting content on social media, buying items online and think more about protecting ourselves on the internet.
Thank you for your amazing speech at our school, I found it all very interesting and intriguing. It was surprising to hear about the scammer Ollie. I didn’t know that people online could be so dangerous and that really shocked me. The speech made me aware of how to be safe online and I am very thankful you told me this information before I did anything wrong. Your speech was wonderful and explained everything I need to know, thank you so much for coming.
Thank you heaps for coming and talking to us about cyber safety. I found it interesting when you talked to us about scammers and how easy it is to get scammed. I was shocked when you told us how many children and adults get scammed or bullied on the internet. After the talk I went home to check my Instagram account and my settings to make sure that I was safe while using the internet. Once again, thank you so much for coming to talk to us.
Thank you for talking to us about cyber safety and it was very interesting to talk about and what the dangers of the internet are. When we had finished the talk I didn’t want it to end it was so interesting and fascinating to talk about. Your story was amazing about how you were an ex policeman and how you became an online crime detective and how you brought scammers and pedophiles to justice and that you have helped millions of people fight against what they have lost.
I would like to thank you for your amazing work and how you have inspired me to be safe online and how your story will fascinate others.
