iServi News | 29 November 2019 | Term 4, Week 7
Servite will host the Just Start It Gala Breakfast on Monday 2 December, welcoming more than 100 guests including including City of Stirling and local business representatives, potential investors, families and students from schools across Perth.
The Just Start It high school program supports students with know-how and industry mentors to develop ideas and apps that help solve practical problems with technology. Teams have working meticulously over the past two Terms to develop and deliver their final products.
Students will be judged on their product ‘pitches’ and the breakfast event will see students present all their hard work to a panel of business investors and members of Catholic Education Western Australia. The winning group will receive $5000 to build and launch their application and go to the national final held in Melbourne in August 2020.
The College is proud to have three teams make this stage of the competition. Servite’s business models include:
- Dinna – a partnership with local farmers, looking to turn surplus and left over seasonal produce into simple recipes delivered to your door, catering for all family dietary needs and income levels.
- Ease In – a platform to assist workers, particularly migrants, into new employment opportunities and workplaces, allowing them to engage and interact in a unique and creative way.
- gAPPed – an educational app to gain student feedback on concepts learned during classroom lessons, informing teachers about students’ progress and individual learning styles.
We wish participating teams from all schools the best of luck.
