iServi News | 18 June 2021 | Term 2, Week 9
This week we started with the Year 12s and the chosen sport was Soccer. It was great to see all six Priories have organised teams with reserves that all fought hard to win their games. However, one team came out on top and that was Annunziata. They made their way through their close game with San Clemente, beating them in the penalty shootouts 3-2 on Wednesday and won their second game on Thursday 2-0 against Senario. Second place place overall went to Senario then in third was Our Lady of Sorrows.
There were some notable plays over the two days of Interpriory competition. In our first game, Our Lady of Sorrows vs Saint Anthony, Zac Lipari (SA2) managed to kick a goal as the goalie from across the court, something that the crowd went crazy for. As mentioned previously, the penalty shootout for the Annunziata and San Clemente game was nail-bitingly close, going into five rounds of penalties where players like Enrico Anza (SC7), Nic Sgro (AN4) and Liam Cunningham (AN6) showed off their powerful kicks. A special mention to Bridget Italiano (AN2) who scored a crucial penalty shot in her game against San Clemente.
It was great to see the competitiveness shown this week in Interpriory sports, we cannot wait to see what the next year groups have in store for us.
Isabella Leahy (SA3) and Gabriel Sansalone (SC2)
