Year 12 Retreat
On Friday we warmly welcomed our Year 12 students returning back to campus from their signature Retreat.
A milestone event in their Servite education, this retreat enables the Year 12s to stop and reflect on who they are, who has accompanied them on their journeys, the role God plays in their lives and what the future holds for them.
In speaking to the Year 12 cohort at the concluding mass, I said:
When you started here at Servite we began walking with you on a journey to help you prepare for whatever comes after school.
It is difficult for us to prepare you for a life that is unknown, unknown to you and us.
How do we then prepare you for the unknown? We plant seeds and knowledge in many areas and nurture these over many years.
We plant seeds in skills, friendships, decision making, morals, spirituality to name a few. We know that by the time these seeds have matured and sprouted, you may have already left our College.
This retreat aimed to give you a chance to focus on your Servite journey and prepare to stand alone without us behind you.
We may not see the amazing tree that sprouts but we hope that the roots are strong enough that you always remember ‘Once a Servite, Always a Servite’.
Parent and Carer Event – Paul Litherland: Staying Safe Online
Thank you to all families who attended the Paul Litherland presentation on cyber safety. To ensure the wellbeing of our young people, it is essential to be aware of the digital world of our teens. Online experiences of young people, including social media and gaming, form a significant component of their social and emotional growth and learning. We appreciated the opportunity to gain practical tips and tools to support children in this important dimension of their lives.
Road Safety
Students, families and staff are asked to support the College in being a good neighbour within the wider community.
All members of our school community are reminded to observe local road rules and signage and to use our roads responsibly.
- Parking in the bus bays or the centre aisle of Cape Street is not permitted.
These are not stopping bays and I ask that families do not stop in these spaces. - I also ask families to refrain from ‘Hook’ U turns on Cape Street whilst students are crossing or oncoming traffic is nearing.
Please take care, be mindful of others and remain focused on the road.
For information about driving distractions and traffic offences, including mobile phone use, please visit the Road Safety Commission website.
Grandparents’ Day – Friday 29 July
Please save the date for our Servite College Grandparents’ Day on Friday 29 July (previously published as Wednesday 15 June). We look forward to this special occasion on our College calendar and more information will follow.
