This week we celebrated National Science Week, with the theme of ‘Glass – More than Meets the Eye’. The Science Team coordinated fabulous events including daily homeroom quizzes, special experiments within our Science lessons and a Science Showcase for Saint Kieran Catholic Primary School students.
We started the week with a Science Week Morning Tea, where staff enjoyed Periodic Table cupcakes and other yummy treats surrounded by lots of science equipment to reinforce the science theme.
Our amazing Science staff wore special tshirts and demonstrated some fun science experiments such as Elephant’s Toothpaste, Flame tests and burning magnesium for Saint Kieran Pre-Primary and Year 1 student guests. Our visitors loved feeling like real scientists when wearing aprons and safety glasses, whilst taking part in an experiment themselves with the help of our Year 9 and Year 12 students.
Hopefully these activities gave all staff and students an opportunity to learn something interesting about Science they didn’t know before and stimulated some interesting conversations. A big thank you to the Science Team for all of their hard work, and also to our selected Year 9 and 12 students who assisted us with the younger Saint Kieran students.
