iServi News | 2 December 2022 | Term 4, Week 8
This Term, Year 10 students in the Family, Community and You class went to Kora Childcare, Bayswater. We were each given the task of creating an activity to teach to the children. The task needed to match a psychology domain that we had learnt in class. The domains we learnt about were physical development, social development, cognitive development and moral development.
We split our class into four groups and worked collaboratively to make different tasks for the children at Kora.
Group one ran an activity which had the children make simple shapes out of playdough and then place then onto pictures which had been prepared previously in class. Group two made a game which required the children to dress small figurines made from foam as a boy and girl. The third group had fun making masks decorated with markers and jewels. The children with group four enjoyed making some simple jewellery out of string and macaroni.
The overall experience was really great as we got to put into practice what we had learnt in class by running through the different activities with the children. We enjoyed spending time with all of the kids at Kora Childcare and getting to know them all individually.
