On Thursday June 8th, Servite College held the Semester One Performing Arts Showcase in the College Auditorium. This is an event where selected Servite students showcase their performing arts talent from their classwork and selected extra-curricular activities.
The evening kicked off with a performance from our Servite College Band, fresh from their successful appearance at the Nannup Music Festival showcasing some of their musical pieces. There was then a wonderful array of performances from Drama and Dance classes like the Year 9 Dance class performing a suave jazz routine to the iconic Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal and Year 8 Dance with their fun hip hop routine to Kriss Kross’s jump. Year 8 Drama students performed their short, scripted realist monologues and we even had a special guest performance from Mrs Vicoli, a short monologue on the frustrations of being vertically challenged…
Year 12 Drama ATAR student Alexandrea Corica performing her scripted monologue from the play ‘After Juliet and Year 10 Drama and Dance presented a collaboration with their short adaptation of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”. The audience were treated to a preview from our upcoming musical production of High School Musical. The cast and crew have been rehearsing tirelessly to bring to the stage Disney’s smash hit movie musical and tickets will be available to the College community soon.
We had over 90 students in Years 7-12 performing from Drama, Music & Dance and part of being involved in the Performing Arts is for the students to have the opportunity to showcase their hard work to a live audience, where their talent, creativity and teamwork are celebrated. We were so pleased to be able to highlight some of that in our showcase.
Thank you to the staff, parents, family members and friends who attended and continue to support the Performing Arts at Servite College. We are looking forward to our next big event with High School Musical in Term 3. Stay tuned!
