Ciao from Italy – Servite Students Embrace the Adventure of a Lifetime!

Sixteen excited Year 11 and 12 students from the Italian Second Language ATAR course have set off on an unforgettable Servite study tour across Italy – and the journey so far has been nothing short of straordinario!

Departing Perth on April 9, the group landed in the Eternal City, Rome, where they kicked off their adventure with three incredible days of sightseeing. Students immersed themselves in history and culture, visiting iconic landmarks like the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, the Vatican, and the awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel.
From Rome, the group made their way to Florence, soaking in the beauty and vibrancy of the Renaissance city. A standout moment was visiting Monte Senario, a sacred Servite site that offered students a deeper connection to the roots of their school’s spiritual tradition. They also explored the famous Uffizi Gallery, standing face to face with masterpieces by Michelangelo, Botticelli and more.

One of the most memorable moments was a visit to the stunning Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, a significant Servite site in Florence that left students in awe with its beauty, history, and deep spiritual connection to their own community.

Another highlight of the trip was spending time at a local Servite school in Florence. There, the students partnered with Italian peers—helping them improve their English while practising their own Italian. The language exchange sparked laughter, learning, and new friendships, highlighting the value of connection across cultures.

The tour is proving to be an incredible opportunity for students to develop their language skills, deepen their cultural awareness, and experience firsthand the richness of the Servite heritage. With more still to come, there’s no doubt – this journey is already buonissimo!

Grazie Italia – the memories being made here will last a lifetime!
