Date June 29, 2023

Tiah Atkinson (Yr 12 OLS) was nominated to represent Servite College in the Taste of the Future Cooking Competition, promoted by Hospitality Group Training (HGT) in raising awareness of Apprentice Chefs.

Tiah was shortlisted to compete with 6 other senior secondary school students,) at Woodvale SHS in their Trade Training Centre this morning (Thursday 22/6).

Tiah prepared a delicious main meal using a variety of techniques and skills learnt and refined each week at NMTAFE, highlighting chicken, which provided by Mahogany Creek, one of the Sponsors.

Competition was fierce in the Cook off and Tiah worked well under pressure – ending up with equal third place and a cash prize.

Networking with esteemed chefs in industry such as Stephen Clarke, Don Hancey and Paul Beard who judged the competition, has secured Tiah’s pathway post Year 12, where she will pursue an Apprenticeship in one of HGT’s top venues.

Tiah has worked consistently for the past 18 months on her commercial cookery, she is an excellent ambassador of VET at Servite College and we are very proud of her.
